For this recipe, we’re using the classic 3-2-1 method to make ribs that are fall-off-the-bone tender! With our Low and Slow Butt Rub, your ribs will have an incredible caramelized crust and a juicy, flavorful interior. Perfect for any smoker, whether you’re new to the BBQ world or a seasoned pit master.

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 racks of pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 4 tablespoons Low and Slow Butt Rub
  • 1/4 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce (optional, for finishing)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better seasoning penetration and tenderness. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  2. Season with Low and Slow Butt Rub: Generously rub both sides of the ribs with Low and Slow Butt Rub, pressing the seasoning into the meat to ensure full flavor coverage.
  3. Preheat the Smoker: Preheat your smoker to 225°F for low-and-slow cooking.
  4. Smoke for 3 Hours: Place the ribs directly on the smoker grates, bone side down. Close the lid and smoke the ribs for 3 hours at 225°F.
  5. Wrap and Cook for 2 Hours: Remove the ribs from the smoker and place each rack on a large sheet of aluminum foil. Pour a little apple juice or apple cider over the ribs, then tightly wrap them in foil. Return the wrapped ribs to the smoker and cook for an additional 2 hours.
  6. Unwrap and Finish for 1 Hour: Carefully unwrap the ribs and place them back on the smoker grates, bone side down. Brush a thin layer of BBQ sauce over the ribs if you like a saucy finish, and smoke for 1 more hour to set the glaze and develop a nice caramelized crust.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the ribs from the smoker and let them rest for a few minutes. Slice between the bones and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side, if desired.

These Low and Slow BBQ Ribs will make you the star of any cookout. With the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and savory, this rub brings out the best in low-and-slow cooking. Enjoy!
